Dra levels mobility is closely connected with mobile learning technologies, as students have the opportunity to participate in education without time and space limitations. In accordance with the needs of students with mobile technology devices, Mobile Learning Management Systems (MLMS) are being developed, which should be flexible and automatically adapt to the devices, as not all mobile devices have the same screens, processors, memory and data entry facilities. Using MLMS in the learning process allows students to access learning materials, and teachers to manage and monitor the learning process.
The use of MLMS in the educational environment provides an opportunity for: participants of the educational process to move freely; creation of study groups, support for class schedules, the formation of various reports and statements; to expand the scope of the educational process beyond the walls of the institution; to study for people with disabilities; teamwork of students and teachers; to distribute educational materials between users thanks to modern wireless technologies (WAP, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, etc.).
There are many mobile learning support systems both commercial (Blackboard, Mobile ELDIT, Amadeus LMS Mobile, etc.) and freely used (Mobl21, MLE-Moodle, LearnCast, MoSync, Hot Lava Mobile (HLM), Mobile Learning Engine (MLE)).
Among different automated systems, the Moodle system is the most dra results popular and widely used. There are the following types of modules: administrator reports, course elements, authentication tools, task types, blocks, course formats and reports, database fields, filters, evaluation reports, forms for exporting and importing evaluations, import and exporting tests, types of questions in tests, test reports, file archives, and mobile learning module (MLE).
As the mentioned system is freely distributed and the most popular, it was chosen for realization of the purpose of mobile technologies researches which is directed on determination of efficiency of MLE-Moodle system use in the process of training of future engineers – teachers in the field of CT, for formation of their competences in professional activity. Therefore, let’s consider the functionality of MLE-Moodle.
Availability of access to training courses by means of mobile devices allows a teacher to carry out an operative control of a condition of training materials of a course, educational activity of students, including on reports on performance of individual tasks, tasks to laboratory works, passing of thematic testing, and the student, in turn, to look through training materials, video lectures, news of a course, notifications from the teacher, to communicate with friends, etc.
In the process of training future CT engineers, the MLE-Moodle mobile training module was applied at all stages of the process of studying disciplines of professional and practical training. The future specialists had access to the training material, the opportunity to determine the level of knowledge and formed skills in the educational and information environment of the MLE-Moodle system.
For the study of theoretical material, despite the possibility of students to attend lectures, for the experimental group in the MLE-Moodle system are placed electronic versions of lectures. This provided the students with the necessary theoretical material at any time.
The main advantage of electronic lectures is the use of electronic data carriers, which allows presenting them in a compressed and more voluminous form. The lecture material is presented in the form of text and supplemented by video materials (video lectures, slide lectures), which students could view at a convenient time and in a rhythm typical for them. Each subject of training had an opportunity to choose the sequence of study of educational material on their own according to their interest and possibilities. The use of hyperlinks in the lecture materials provided an opportunity to go to the required section or topic at any time.
